Alene Morris Newport, age 77 of Sparta, Tennessee passed away on Thursday, May 25, 2023, at Life Care Center of Sparta.

She was born June 10, 1945 in Robbins, Tennessee, and she was the daughter of the late Clint and Mary Jones Morris.

Alene was a former employee of Mallory Timers (Emerson) for many years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one infant son, Jeffery Newport; and two sisters, Rebba Heiness and Nadene York.

Surviving family members left to cherish her memory include:

Husband of 58 Years- Elwood Newport of Sparta, TN

Three Sons- Greg Newport of Sparta, TN; Edward (Kim) Newport of Sparta, TN; and Brian (Becky) Newport of Sparta, TN

Four Grandchildren- Crystal (Tim) Savage of Sparta, TN; Jasmine Newport of Sparta, TN; Allen (Whitney) Newport of Sparta, TN; and Leanna (Michael) Crook of Smithville, TN

Five Great-Grandchildren- Tracy Savage, Axl Newport, Ozzy Newport, Mason Crook, and Eli Newport

One Brother- Charles (Ann) Morris of Speedwell, TN

One Sister- Margie Newport of Chatsworth, GA

Several nieces and nephews also survive.

She will be dearly missed.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at Oak Lawn Funeral Home with Emory Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in New Bon Air Cemetery. The family will welcome friends on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until time of the service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers to serve are Allen Newport, Crystal Savage, Jasmine Newport, Leanna Crook, Michael Crook, and Tim Savage.
