Obituary for Barbara Jane Drummonds

Barbara Jane Drummonds was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend. She left this world on October 2, 2022 at age 72.

She was born to Clinton and Ann Taylor on December 28, 1949. A 1968 graduate of Bridgeton High School, Barbara married William Paullin in 1970 and gave birth to daughter, Kelie, later that year. She worked in many fields until finding her passion in the furniture business. She specialized in interior design and custom draperies putting her talent for sewing to use. After divorcing, Barbara continued to include “Bill” and his family in holiday gatherings and special occasions for the benefit of her daughter, always putting others before herself. Barbara remarried to Charles Weber whom she lost to cancer in 1983. She was a dedicated caregiver to him, her parents, and other family members throughout her life. Her generosity and selflessness was unmatched.

Barbara found love again and married Glenn Drummonds in 1992. She worked as a caregiver later in life in New Jersey and after moving to Tennessee following Glenn’s retirement. Barbara formed a special bond with patients, Lucky and Betty, always going above and beyond. Although the move was difficult for her, she created a life for herself, joined a sewing group, and continued to create, make wonderful friends, and leave an impression on everyone she met. Barbara won several ribbons for her work which included quilts, blankets, and doll clothes. She was especially proud of making her grandchildren holiday outfits and making and donating bereavement outfits for parents who lost their newborns. Unfortunately, Barbara also lost husband, Glenn, to cancer in 2020. Her own health had declined but she remained fiercely independent in spirit. In her final months, she experienced great joy in seeing the birth of her great granddaughter and spending time with the baby.

Barbara is survived by daughter, Kelie, son-in-law, Steve, grandchildren, Drew and Steven, great-granddaughter, Drea Brielle, stepdaughter, Deanna, and step granddaughters, Audrey and Emilia. Barbara also leaves behind brothers, Donald and Cliff, and sister, Sara, a niece and several nephews, and many close friends. The family wishes to acknowledge those who cared for her in her final years, especially the staff at Lifecare in Sparta, Kindred Hospice, and “other daughter” Delicia Brewington and family.

A Memorial Gathering will be held from 3:00-5:00 PM on Thursday, October 6, 2022 at Oak Lawn Funeral Home in Sparta, TN. Barbara’s remains will be interred at Overlook Cemetery in Bridgeton, NJ at a later date.
