Benny Walton Hambrick of Quebeck, Tennessee, formerly from Ellaville, Georgia, passed away Friday night, March 11, 2022 in ICU at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Born July 10, 1945 in Ellaville, he was the son of the late George Walton Hambrick and the late Dorothy Brewer Hambrick. Also preceding him in death were his beloved father-in-law and mother-in law, William Lee Tolbert and Marlene Savage Tolbert.
Benny had a tenacious love for life and for his many friends. He never met a stranger and always wanted to help others. A member of the Lion’s Club, he was a strong, selfless supporter for organ donation, and his wishes have been fulfilled. He loved the UGA Dawgs Football teams and the Atlanta Braves and always followed both teams closely. He was thrilled when both had championship seasons this past year and watched every moment of those victories with enthusiastic excitement and pride.
He also loved working the land after his retirement, lovingly and continually planting, mowing, and landscaping his farm. His yard and former pastures speak of his diligence, intelligence, industriousness, and character and is filled with beautiful trees and a variety of amazing perennials, blooming shrubs, evergreens, and ornamental grasses. Another facet of his gentle nature and caring personality was reflected in his love for animals. He and his wife had many babies prior to their move from Cookeville and throughout their time on the farm, whether through rescue, adoption, or abandoned strays.
Staying in touch with his childhood friends and classmates was also so very important and meaningful in his life, and their reunions were filled with laughter and love. His love for his family was always true, and he felt blessed to be so loved.
