Obituary for Henry Earl Burgin

Henry Earl Burgin (Red), age 75 of Sparta, Tennessee passed away on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at his home.

He was born October 11, 1946 in Watervliet, Michigan. Red worked and retired from Emerson, formerly Mallory Timers, after 45 years. During those years, he enjoyed traveling with Everett Palmer, Bob O'Neil, and Dave Hitchcock, who became lifelong friends. He was an engineer who could design or build anything and received 3 U.S. patents for his designs. Mallory was also where he met the love of his life, Debbie Goff. In his younger years, he enjoyed bass fishing and golf. He and Debbie traveled the world together and attended several professional golf tournaments where he met Jim Furyk and his idol, Tiger Woods. Red was gentle, kind, loving, and loved playing jokes on his friends. He always said what was on his mind, and if he liked you, he would be the best friend you could have. Red had the most beautiful blue eyes and red hair.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Burgin and Susie Ward Burgin Sharp, brother, Charles (Big Red) Burgin, sisters, Mary, Bonnie, Dean, and Joyce, special nephew, Danny Sharp, and best friend, Russ Brattain.

Wife and Love of his Life- Debbie Goff of Sparta, TN

Children- Scott Burgin (Brandon) of Fishers, IN and Lisa Andrews (Rick) of Ft. Collins, CO

Mother of his Children- Meg Walls of Fishers, IN

Step-Daughter- Nikki Stevens (Greg) of Cookeville, TN

Combined Grandchildren and 3 Great-Grandchildren, one of which was his golfing buddy and the apple of his eye, Presley

Sister- Barbara Kuzum (Jim) of Kent, WA

Brother- Bert Sharp (Alicia) of Wyoming, MI

Sister-in-Law- Darlene Manier (Jerry) of Cookeville,TN

Celebration of Life Services will be held at 6:00 PM on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at Oak Lawn Funeral Home with full military honors. The family will welcome friends on Saturday from 4:00 PM until time of the service at the funeral home.
