James Willard Bennett, age 80, of Sparta, Tennessee passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2023, at Alive Hospice in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

He was born April 16, 1942 in Sparta, Tennessee. He was the son of the late Artie and Pauline (Holman) Bennett.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his children, Matthew Todd Bennett and Allison Jill Bennett, brother, Vernon Bennett, brother-in-law, Dane Sorrell, father and mother-in-law, Jannetta Bandy and Otis Gaines "Cy" Bandy.

Those left behind include:

Wife of 56 years - Sue Bennett

Daughter - Courtney Barker (Travis)

Sisters - Jannette Denton (Tommy) and Hilda Sorrell

Grandchildren - Austin Hanna, Ashlyn Hanna, Kendall Barker, Bradley Barker and Brittney Thompson

Brother-in-law - Jim Bandy (Peggy)

Sister-in-law - Debbie Morgan (Gary) Vickie Crain (Terry)

Many loved nieces and nephews also survive.


A celebration of life service will be held from 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM on Sunday, February 26, 2023, at Oak Lawn Funeral Home with Doug Downs officiating.
