Obituary for James David Howard

James David Howard, age 81, of Sparta, TN, took his final journey into Glory on Monday, April 13, 2020, at his home in the Hampton's Crossroads community. He made the journey riding on his John Deere tractor, one of his favorite things to do.

David lived a full and blessed life. He was a retired over the road truck driver, but he worked many jobs during his life, including at Alladin Industries, managing a shoe store, running gas stations, and farming. In his younger years, he was an avid drag racer. His current hobbies included hunting and fishing with his sons, and working on his antique tractors and taking them to shows. He served in the Army National Guard in the early 1960's.

David loved the Lord, his family, his church, and his friends. He has been a child of God since an early age, and served as a deacon and a Sunday School teacher. He was a member of Hampton's Crossroads Baptist Church and was part of Sunday School and Senior Adult Group.

James David Howard was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Auda Howard, his parent-in-laws, Landon and Jewell Young, and his infant daughter, Scarlett Louise Howard.

He is survived by:

Wife of almost 60 years- Louise Howard of Sparta, TN

Sons- David Russell Howard (Nicole) of Mission Viejo, CA; Timothy Christopher Howard of Sparta, TN; and Michael Clifty Howard of Sparta, TN

Grandchildren- Jonathon Howard of Sparta, TN; Savannah Howard of Knoxville, TN; Tyler Howard of South Carolina; Courtney Howard of South Carolina; Kyle Roach of Mission Viejo, CA; and Sydney Roach of Mission Viejo, CA

A host of in-laws, nephews, cousins, and his church family and friends also survive.

Due to the unusual circumstances we are facing, at this time there will not be a public service. The family will try to have a Celebration of Life service at a later date.
