Obituary for James Orville Oaks
James Orville Oaks, age 84 of Sparta, Tennessee passed away on Tuesday, May 3, 2022. He was born September 27, 1937 to the late Marion and Nell Overbee in Jackson, KY. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church of Sparta, Pastor Isaac Edwards.
He left the hills of Kentucky and went to Michigan for employment. He met his wife, June, at Jimmy's Dinner. He and Geroge Carroll bought Mountain Side Auto Parts in 1971 and moved from Michigan to Sparta.
His only hobby was working. He loved to work on projects around the house and garage, especially, with his son and grandson. He was friendly with everyone. There wasn't a stranger he couldn't strike up a conversation with.
He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, June Elizabeth Oaks, his brother, John Oaks and his brother-in-law, James Jett.

Grandsons- Tyler Oaks (Logan) of Sparta, TN and Derrick Dale (Jenny) of Sparta, TN
Granddaughters- Ann Marie Folmar (Kevin) of Jupiter, FL, Jessica Gibson of Sparta, TN and Brooke Nunn (Kevin) of Cookeville, TN
Great-Grandchild- Blake
Sister and Brother- Georgia Oaks Jett and Richard Oaks (Vicky) of Jackson, KY
Special Friends- Alberta and Lester Hicky, Leann and Jim Bo Haley, George Carroll and Danny Luna
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, May 6, 2022 at Oak Lawn Funeral Home with Pastor Isaac Edwards and Deacon Roy Powell officiating. Burial will follow in Frasier and Gracey Cemetery. The family will welcome friends on Friday from 11:00 AM until time of the service at the funeral home.
