James Allen Simpson, Sr., age 61 of Sparta, Tennessee passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2022. He was born March 27, 1961, in Sparta. He was the son of David Luther (Rex) Simpson, Sr. and Cora Daisy Snodgrass Simpson.
James Allen played football in junior high and high school. He graduated in 1979 and married the love of his life, Tracy DeLa Pena, in 1980. They were high school sweethearts.
He drove a truck and hauled cattle out west until 1990. He then started his own business to be home more and watch his young children grow up. He was an entrepreneur and always had his hand in multiple business ventures. He owned and operated Simpson Diesel for 20 years.
He was also active in his community and served as a county election commissioner for 10 years. He coached a junior league football team for several years and never missed any of Serena and James Jr.'s games. He loved skiing and in his youth was well known for his skiing abilities.
James Allen loved farming and taking care of his cattle. But most of all, he loved his wife, children, and grandchildren. He enjoyed his Saturday adventures with one special grandchild, Allie James Simpson, who is his namesake and his pride and joy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother- John C. Simpson.

Children- Serena Lorraine Simpson and James Allen Simpson, Jr.
Brother- David Luther Simpson, Jr. (Sandy)
Sisters- Mary Joyce Carlson, Donna Sue Massa Simpson, and Lillian Anne (Bill) Stewart.
Sister-in-Law- Brenda Simpson
Grandchildren- Cade Cordova Littrell, Allie James Simpson, Sir Conrad Simpson, Alamea Kai Simpson, and Averic Clay Simpson.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 31, 2022, at Oak Lawn Funeral Home with David Mason Simpson officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Lawn Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 11:00 AM until time of the services at the funeral home.
Pallbearers who will be serving include Michael Simpson, Kyle Simpson, Cameron Simpson, Casey Simpson, Bobby Simpson, and Brent Simpson.
Serving as Honorary Pallbearers are Ethan Massa, Josh Carlson, Erik Stewart, Jesse Simpson, and Saul Simpson.
