Obituary for Jean Killgore Ross
Rebecca Jean Killgore Ross, age 96, passed on to the next life on November 9th, 2019 in Sparta, Tennessee.
Jean was born on March 5th, 1923 in Samson, Alabama to Phonso and Ruth Killgore. She was one of three very close sisters.
After attending Samson High School, she graduated from David Lipscomb College and Peabody College of Education. She later earned a Master’s in Education at the University of West Florida.
One of her greatest joys throughout her life was teaching about Jesus to her family first, but also other children and adults locally and around the world on mission trips.
She also taught business education courses at Lipscomb and later at Pensacola Junior College.
She was a loving wife to Louis Ross for over 72 years and devoted mother to Becky Tubb (married to Les Tubb), Bob Ross (married to Carolyn Ross), Rosemary O’Donnell (married to William O’Donnell), and Sam Ross (married to Pamela Ross).
She was an adored grandmother to:
Matthew O’Donnell (married to Katharina)
Erika Lucero (married to Ed)
Patrick O’Donnell (married to Lauren),
Caroline Williams (married to Jason),
Joseph Tubb (married to Brittney),
Jonathan Ross (married to Amanda),
Ian Ross (married to Whitney),
Phillip Ross (married to Liz),
Daniel Tubb (married to Romina),
Saundra Garrett (married to Zack),
Meghan Bradley (married to Spenser)
And 14 great grandchildren so far:
Flora and Falko O’Donnell
Eleanor, Erin, and Vivienne O’Donnell
Rio and Geo Lucero
Olivia and Theodore Ross
Charlotte Williams
Emery, Ethan, Scarlett and Colin Ross
Jean lost her vision suddenly to an autoimmune disease at age 80. Her strong faith in God and amazing positive attitude in the face of trials inspired all who knew her. Losing her sight was not easy, but she continued to seek ways to serve and encourage others.
She loved God with her whole heart and shared that love by serving her family, her church and her community. At the time of her passing, she was a member of Central Church of Christ, Sparta, Tennessee.
A Celebration of Life for Jean Ross is scheduled for Sunday afternoon, November 17, 2019 at Central Church of Christ, 45 North Main Street, Sparta.
1:00 – 2:00 Visitation
2:00 – 3:00 Service
