Jo Ann Smith, age 88 of Sparta, Tennessee passed away on Sunday, April 2, 2023, at Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Jo Ann was born Monday, February 4, 1935 in Blackwell, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of the late Herbert Shoemaker and the late Doris Bass Shoemaker.

In addition to her parents, Jo Ann was preceded in death by her son, Keith Smith, by her Great Grand-Daughter, Leslie Cayce, and her brother, Wayne Shoemaker.

Survivors include:

Husband of 67 years - Herbert Leslie Smith of Sparta, TN

Son - Jack Smith (Suzette) of Sparta, TN

Daughters - Jill McCulley (Bryan) of Sparta, TN and Kay Sims (Mike) of Sparta, TN

Grandchildren - Joshua Smith, Ryan McCulley, Rachael Whittenburg, Jennifer Campos, Aubrey Rice, and Siera Griffin

Great Grandchildren - Molly Whittenburg, Natalie Whittenburg, Jamison Smith, Declan Griffin, Adler Griffin, Charleston Rice, and Callaway Rice.

Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM on Tuesday at Elrod Cemetery, Sparta, TN. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Elrod Cemetery Fund.
