Obituary for Josephine Masters (Seals)
Josephine Seals Masters, age 92, of Sparta, passed away June 1, 2022, surrounded by her family at the Life Care Memory Unit in Sparta,Tennessee.
Josephine was born March 4,1930, in Culman, Alabama. She was the daughter of Jonah Robert Seals and Lottie Kate Ballew Seals.
She was a member of the Lighthouse Church of the Old Zion Community. The last twenty years before her retirement, she worked at Mallory Timers.
Her hobbies included vegetable, fruit,and flower gardening. She loved sharing the fruits of her labor with family and friends whether it be her canned vegetables from her immense garden, her fried apple pies, or dried apple stack cakes. In her leisure time, she loved quilting, sewing, cooking, and reading.
Josephine was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 63 years, Herman Masters; daughter, Pamela Ann Stevenson; son, Ronald Stephen Masters; sisters, Mamie Scoggins, Alene Robinson, and Marie Seals; and brothers, James B. Seals and Jerry Seals.
Survivors include:
Daughters- Sarah Judith Heady (Donnie) of Sparta, TN and Phyllis Gale Allen (David) of Rising Fawn, GA
Son- Phillip Dale Masters of Sparta, TN
Sister- Evelyn Wright of Cookeville, TN
Grandchildren- Matt Stevenson, Andrew Stevenson, Ronald Stephen, Dennis Wade Masters, Lindsey Porter, Whitney Gallaher, Eli Masters, and Amanda Masters
Several great-grandchildren, nephews, and nieces also survive.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at Oak Lawn Funeral Home with Thomas McCulley officiating. Burial will follow in Old Zion Cemetery. The family will welcome friends on Saturday from 11:00 AM until time of the service at the funeral home.
