Obituary for Mary Elizabeth "Liz" Willson
Mary Elizabeth "Liz" Willson, 74, of Cookeville, TN passed away Nov. 1, 2022. Liz was born January 9, 1948 in White County. Liz retired from Ingram Barge, where she had proudly spent many years.
Liz was the life of any gathering. She loved people and had a gift for making you feel special, always smiling and laughing and trying to make someone else's day brighter. Liz loved her family and enjoyed getting together with them as often as she could. God also blessed Liz with the gift of being able to play piano and sing beautifully.
Liz spent the last 36 years in Spring Hill with the love of her life, Bob, and their dog, Bosley. Sadly after losing them both 14 months ago, life was just never the same for Liz, and she missed them terribly. We find comfort in knowing she is once again with Bob, where we know she always wanted to be, and we know this joint celebration of their lives is exactly how she would want to be remembered... together forever.
Ms. Willson was preceded in death by her parents, Ralston and Gertrude Swindell; sisters, Birdie Ellen Gooch, Ruby Marcum, Faye Huston, and Mollie Clark; brothers, Dallas Swindell, Buford Swindell, and Jerald Swindell.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Tim and Billie Sue Johnson of Sparta,TN and Chris and Lori Willson of Belleville, MI; grandchildren, Lexi Johnson, Jenna and Nick Johnson, Brad Johnson, Eric and Tammy Johnson, Chris Willson Jr., and Colt Willson; great-grandchildren, Wesley, Ava, and Madyson Johnson; sisters, Margie Roberts, Edna and Dean Moland, and Barbara and Loyd Dunn; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
Very special friends, whom Liz loved just like family, Thomas and Ronda Spurlock and Jimmy and Cecelia Murphy, all of Spring Hill, TN.
A Joint Memorial Service for Liz and Bob will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at Oak Lawn Funeral Home with Thomas Spurlock officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Lawn Memorial Cemetery. The family will welcome friends on Friday, November 4, 2022, from 5:00 - 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Pallbearers to serve are Tim Johnson, Lexi Johnson, Chris Willson, Thomas Spurlock, Ben Spurlock, and Eric Johnson.
