Obituary for Roszella Pearl Abston (Bolin)

Roszella Abston passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

She was born in Cumberland County, Tennessee, on November 19, 1943, to the late Earl Velmer Bolin and Hassie Vanwinkle. She retired after 20+ years at Mallory Controls in Sparta. She attended Bondecroft Baptist Church. Rosie was very passionate about gardening, canning, cooking, sewing, and most of all - loving God and her family.

In addition to her parents, Rosie was preceded in death by her two sisters- Edna Lawson Stark and Della Mae Thompson Page; and her two brothers- Frank
Thompson and Ronnie Thompson.

Survivors include:

Her companion of 32 years, Earl Lee Smith;

A son Gregory Abston and wife, Libby, of Liberty, Kentucky;

Four daughters, Teresa Lewis and husband, Tim, of Crossville,Tennessee; Shirley Winningham and husband, Ronnie, of Sparta, Tennessee; Rebecca Stanton and husband, Todd, of Sparta,Tennessee; and Regina Commander of Keokuk, Iowa.

Three brothers: Joe Lawson, Carl Lawson, and John Thompson.

A nephew/brother Glenn Lawson and several other nieces and nephews.

Grandchildren- Lutitia Burgess and husband, Rick; Lucinda Lewis, Jay Lewis, Allison Whaley and husband, Tyler; Vanessa Antle and husband, Justin; Gregory Abston and wife, Tessa; Hayden Abston, Hannah Stanton, Emily Stanton, Cassandra Dunivan and husband, Adam; and Chloe Commander.

Great Grandchildren- Nathaniel Seibers, Sydney Seibers, Olivia Sullivan, John Sullivan, Benjamin Lewis, Teresa Wilson, Brianna Wilson, Emma Lewis, Mason Lewis, Tyson Whaley, Scarlett Whaley, Adalyn Whaley, Zora Kate Antle, Skylynn Abston, and Jansen Abston.

Her fur babies- Axel, Jackson, and Dewy.

Funeral Service will be held in the chapel of Oaklawn Funeral Home, Sparta, on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at 11:00 AM with Ralph Reagan officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 9:00 AM until the service time at Oak Lawn. Burial to follow at Thomas Springs Cemetery in Cumberland County. Pallbearers who will be serving include- Gregory Abston, Brandon Lawson, Jay Lewis, Tyler Whaley, Patrick Brown, and Rick Burgess.
