Samantha Rowena Nash Carter Hayes,100, of Sparta, TN passed away Saturday, July 18, 2020 at her home surrounded by her family. Mrs. Hayes was born on June 20, 1920 in Sparta, TN to the late Bill and Ollie Hitchcock Nash.

When asked what the most significant contributions were, her response was her family. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren will miss her but praise God that she is now whole and complete. She especially loved cooking, canning, singing and her chickens.

The family would like to thank the wonderful Avalon Hospice and all her care helpers.
In addition to her parents, Rowena was preceded in death by her; Husbands, Elmore Carter and Leonard Hayes, Son, Elmore Carter Jr, Grand-Daughter, Avalyn Lacy, Sisters, Mae Pendergrass, Maggie L. Clark, Minnie E. Howell, Sallie L. Golden, Zina Elrod, Willie L. Stone and Clarise Hickey, Brothers- Leon Nash, Robert Nash and Andrew Nash. Plus, several nieces and nephews.

Rowena is survived by:

Daughter- Barbara Carter Lacy (Alvin)

Son- Ronnie Carter (Angie)

Daughter-in-law- Lois Carter

Grandchildren- Jeffery (Karen) Lacy, Mike (Lisa) Carter, Josh Carter, Lisa (Mike) Stults, and Samantha Carter.

Great-Grandchildren- Meg (JJ ) Vega, Blake Carter, Jared Carter, Gracie Stults, and Gabriella Carter.

A host of nieces and nephews.

Special friends- Jessie Matheney, Virginia Ray, Joanne Bottoms, Beverly Price and Ann England.

A graveside service will be held at 7 P.M. on Monday, July 20, 2020 at Saylors Cemetery with Tom McCulley officiating.

100 red roses will cover her grave.
