Obituary for Tara Anderson Garcia

Tara Bonn Anderson Garcia went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on December 8, 2022. She was born on April 24, 1959, in Heidelberg, Germany to Suzanne Hennessee Ramsey Anderson of Sparta, TN. and the late Fred Grant Anderson. Tara is survived by her husband, Al M. Garcia III.

Tara and Al were married in Nashville TN on April 16, 1994. Al always said he married the love of his life. They resided in Somers, CT for 17 years and in 2011 relocated to Katy, TX.

Tara is also survived by her mother, brothers Fred G. (aka Biff) Anderson and his wife Julie of Madison, AL; Scott Anderson and his wife Jennifer; sister-in-law Ann Jones of Sparta TN; and numerous nieces, nephews, great niece, and great nephews.

Tara graduated from Tennessee Technological University in 1982 where she earned a bachelor’s degree in education. Additionally, she was an alumnae of Alpha Delta Pi sorority.

Tara was always very athletic and in high school she was a twelve-varsity letterman. Tara will be remembered locally as the “the girl with the blond ponytail jogging through the streets in Sparta.” She was an avid runner having completed fifty-three half marathons across the USA and the Nashville Music City full marathon on her 45th birthday.

She was also an accomplished amateur chef and always experimented on Al with new dishes. She loved to travel and visit new destinations with Al, friends, and family.

Tara had a kindred spirit, was happy, cheerful, and a good friend to so many. She is deeply loved and will be missed by family and friends.

In addition to a service in Houston, local services will held at the First Baptist Church, Sparta Tn., December 27, 2022, at 12PM, with visitation at 11AM. Tara will be laid to rest in the Hudgens-Swift Cemetery on the Clark farm with her late brother Brett. Oaklawn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
