Obituary for Terry B Whiteaker
Terry B. Whiteaker, age 85, of Sparta passed away peacefully at his home on May 31, 2022, following an extended illness.
Terry was born in Putnam County to the late J.B. and Ina Ruth (Bumbalough) Whiteaker. He was a retired truck driver and especially enjoyed his time at Potter Freight Line. Terry was well known for his physical strength, exceptional talent of playing the banjo, making people laugh and laughing with them. He was a long-time member of Findlay Church of Christ in Sparta.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years Joyce (Smith) Whiteaker, 2 daughters Teresa Dillon of Cookeville and Marla and Steve Moore of Sparta, 2 grandchildren Terri and Andrew Buchanan of Monterey and Eli Price of Sparta. Also surviving are 2 siblings, Phyllis and Charles Cobb and Bobby and Cathy Whiteaker, Sister-in-law Betty Jo Whiteaker, and Brother-in-law Danny Roberts of Cookeville. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and close friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 siblings, Timmy Whiteaker, Diana Roberts, and a son-in-law, Bill Dillon.
Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at Findlay Church of Christ in Sparta. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10:00 am until time of service. Minister Carl Sims will officiate the service. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made to Happy Haven Children’s Home.
