Obituary for William George Riggs
William “Bill” George Riggs,93, of Sparta, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at the age of 93. He leaves behind a wife of 67 years, Frances Marsh Riggs, a son, Galen Riggs of Nolensville, TN, daughters Cynthia Shafer of Olatha, KS, and Karen Waller of Cookeville, TN, and a granddaughter Hayley Waller of Cookeville, TN, a brother Robert Riggs of Fayetteville, AR, and a sister Emma and Bill Rapert, Sister-in-law Nancy Riggs, and a brother-in-law Bill Decker all of Pocahontas, AR, and several nieces and nephews.
Bill was born in Pocahantas, Arkansas to R. McDowell Riggs and Grace Million Riggs. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a grandson, Matthew Riggs, a daughter-in-law, Diane Riggs, a son-in-law James Waller, sisters, Maxine Sago and Mary Decker, and a brother Ronald Riggs.
Bill chose a private memorial service for the family at Oak Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Sparta, TN.
In Lieu of flowers family wishes donations to be made to First Baptist Church of Sparta, TN or the American Cancer Society, or a charity of your choice.
