Obituary for William Earl Woodson

Friday, May 27, 2022, William Earl Woodson, loving husband, and father of four children, passed away at age 85. William was born on September 9, 1936, in Madison County, KY to George and Dorcus (Fox) Woodson.

He married his first wife, Mozetta Raines and they raised one son, Bill Woodson, and four daughters; Shirley, Marlene, Kathy, and Beverly. William started his ministry at the age of 16 as the assistant pastor at Berean Baptist Church in Ohio. His passion and love for doing the will of God and spreading the gospel, were apparent. He was a missionary in Haiti five times; establishing churches, feeding the hungry, and spreading the word of God. He spent years in Colorado sharing about Jesus with the Native Americans. He also built and pastored many churches around the world. He wrote multiple songs and loved to sing with friends and family in the house of the Lord.

William was preceded in death by his father, George, and his mother, Dorcus. His sisters, Adelaide and Georgette, his first wife, Mozetta, daughter, Kathy and step-son, Mark Blankenship.

He is survived by his wife Sue, and his four children, Bill, Marlene, Shirley, and Beverly. His brothers Clint, Moses, and John; and Sisters Catherine and Maggie. A host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, 6 step-children, several cousins, nieces, nephews, and many more family members also survive.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at Oak Lawn Funeral Home with J.R. Roach officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Lawn Memorial Cemetery. The family will welcome friends on Tuesday from 11:00 AM until time of the service at the funeral home.
